Sklad: Integrated Streaming Device

 

SKLAD is a future generation entertainment device: a set-top box and remote control combined into a single touch screen enabled interactive device. The user profile based interface is a breakthrough concept in interaction design for this category.

Industry Trends
The concept and design for SKLAD was inspited by studying emerging trends in the media and entertainment space. Internet content, cable and TV media is converging at a rapid pace and industry leaders have been predicting distribution of this converged content via wireless networks.

Design Objective: Simplicity
The design objective was to simplify consumer experience by minimizing the number of gadgets (streaming devices, set top boxes and remote controls) and create a single device which provided access to content as well as social interaction.

Consumer viewing experience
An intelligent hinge has been placed at the rear side for battery enclosures and USB cable connections.
The SKLAD moves TV program guides and setting options from the TV screen to the device screen thereby enhancing the consumer’s viewing experience.
One user can search for programs on the SKLAD screen; schedule recording and even set up for viewing on another TV while other users are watching their current programs.
